About this game

World War I extended into the mountains of the Italian Front – stunning but equally deadly. Inspired by the two-year struggle for control of the Isonzo River valley and the Alps during World War I, Isonzo elevates the WW1 Game Series, figuratively and literally.

The new Offensive game mode puts you right in the middle of a major historic assault on the Italian Front. Lead attacks through stunning Italian landscapes as you choose your path to victory – cut paths through barbed wire, hit your enemies by following mountain trails or Control mortars to break through the path. Form a dynamic battlefield by placing sandbags and ropes, placing ammo crates, deploying trench periscopes or sniper shields, etc.

Take part in historic humiliations from the Sixth Battle of the Isonzo to the Straf Expedition. Reflecting the actual course of the battle, as the attackers advance, skirmishes shift across vastly different landscapes in one strike: from hillside forts to upper trenches, mountains, and fierce urban battles on city streets. Everything is recreated based on research and field trips, from sound effects and uniforms to the houses, vineyards and moats where you fight.

Ask for help with a historically accurate beacon system: flares can mark targets for artillery or biplanes, or flares of different colors can be used to Lead your team. Once the big guns have softened the enemy, finish the job at close range with Arditi’s dagger or climbing pickaxe. Heavy machine guns, mortars and even mount guns for more direct fire support.

Choose from six classes based on historical combat roles and build your strength from the selection of weapons, equipment and perks associated with that class, providing flexibility and variety while still relying on what a real soldier might carry. You’ll operate wire cutters, bandage yourself and injured teammates, and blow your whistle to initiate attacks. One shot can kill and even a lighter wound can cause rapid bleeding.

Being an effective soldier at Isonzo isn’t just about being a good sniper. Mastering the terrain is also important – mountains can be friends or foes. Learn to navigate well to maintain cover and surprise enemies or support your allies.

Finally… watch out for the dreaded gas. You’ve never experienced WW1 action like this!
