About this game

Garry’s Mod is a physical sandbox. There are no predetermined goals or objectives. We give you the tools and let you play.

You create objects and put them together to create your own object – whether it’s a car, rocket, catapult, or something as yet unnamed – it’s up to you. You can do it offline or join the thousands of players who play online every day.

If you’re not very good at construction – don’t worry! You can put a lot of characters in silly places. But if you want to do more, we have the means.

Outside the sandbox

Garry’s Mod Community is a huge source of content and has added hundreds of unique modes to the game. In Trouble In Terrorist Town, you can become a detective solving online murders as criminals try to cover up their murders. Be a ball, a tree, a chair or anything else in this tricky, shape-shifting game of Hide & Seek Prop Hunt. Elevator: Source is the first elevator thrill ride that takes players to the mast of the plane and the cat dance.

We have one of the hottest Steam Community Workshops available, with over 300,000 models, maps and gear to download. It has everything from new tools to improve your construction, to weapons that shoot rainbow-colored nuclear explosions from outer space. Take as much or as little as you want: completely free.

Please note: Some multiplayer servers and game modes may require you to have other games – such as Counter-Strike: Source and Team Fortress 2.
