New class

No two playing classes are the same. Hide above Ivy Canopies as a Ranger and rain poison arrows on your enemies. New style

We took a completely new artistic approach to Rogue Legacy 2. This sequel has a 2.5D style, with 3D characters in a hand-drawn background. The art uses bold shadows and all animation is done using a step technique to keep the RL look and feel familiar.

Improved biome generation

We’ve gone to great lengths with biome creation to make every area in RL2 feel new. Each biome applies a different “development strategy” to create a completely unique but still randomly generated region.

True Metroidvania

To really push the sophistication of metroidvania, RL2 introduces heirlooms: special items that grant your heroes permanent new abilities that uncover the complete secrets of the world. It’s not a basic locking ability but a power that fundamentally changes the way you play. And heirlooms aren’t just given to you. You have to prove your worth, as long as you can find it.

While fun to play the first time, traits in RL1 are often received later in the game. We have now added a gold modifier to attract players to take on new challenges. The more debilitating the trait (in-game), the bigger the reward. This makes choosing your heir always a meaningful decision.

Monuments and Settlements

One of the coolest new features of Rogue Legacy 2 is the ability to pick up Relics, which are unique items that change the way you play. Earn stat modifiers, complete special challenges, and even gain new abilities as you progress through the realms. But be careful, the more Relics you get, the more shaky your resolve will be and all Relics will be lost if your hero dies.

Improve accessibility

We have taken accessibility to the next level with the introduction of Common Code. Change exposure damage, adjust damage and global health, and even give you flight for robust platform components. You have complete control over how you want to play the game. We’ve also introduced new mechanics like Offshore Bankers to give struggling players more ways to succeed.
