About this game

Half-Life: Alyx is Valve’s VR return to the Half-Life series. This is a story of an impossible war against a vicious alien race known as the Combine, set between the events of Half-Life and Half-Life 2.

As Alyx Vance, you are humanity’s only chance at survival. The Combine’s control over the planet since the Black Mesa incident was only strengthened when they concentrated the remaining population in the cities. Among them are some of the greatest scientists on Earth: you and your father, Dr. Eli Vance.

As a fledgling founder of the resistance, you have continued your secret scientific pursuits — conducting important research and building invaluable tools for the few brave enough to do so.

Every day, you learn more about your enemy, and every day you work to find weaknesses.

ABOUT VR GAMEPLAYS:

Valve’s return to the Half-Life universe started it all built from the ground up for virtual reality. VR was built to enable gameplay that is at the heart of Half-Life.

Immerse yourself in immersive interaction with the environment, puzzle solving, world exploration, and immersive combat.

Lean to aim at the broken walls and under the Barnacles for impossible shots. Browse the shelves for healing syringes and some rifle bullets. Manipulate tools to hack alien skins. Throw bottles through windows to distract enemies. Remove the crab from your face and throw it out the window.

COMMUNITY BUILDING ENVIRONMENT

A set of Source 2 tools for building new levels is included with the game, allowing each player to build and contribute a new environment for the community to enjoy through Half-Life: Alyx’s Steam Workshop. Hammer, Valve’s level generator, has been updated with all the game’s virtual reality components and gameplay engine.
